Hindustan Motors Car

Hindustan Motors is a public automobile company and manufactured in India in 1942. Hindustan Motors was founded by C.K.Birla and is a part of Birla Technical services. Hindustan Motors is the largest manufacturer of cars before Maruti came into existence having its head quarter at Hind motor, Kolkata in west Bengal. Hindustan Motors first produced the government limousine named the Ambassador car based on a British car. Hindustan motors had many linkups with the General motors to produce Bedford Trucks, Vauxhall motors and Allison Transmissions. A 50% joint venture was formed in 1994 to manufacture Opel Astra cars. Hindustan Motors made earth moving vehicles and joint ventured with caterpillar to manufacture diesel engines and generator sets.

Hindustan Motors collaborated with Isuzu to make transmissions and engine for Contessa. Modifications were done by using 4 cylinders G180Z 1.8L petrol engines to 2.0L Isuzu diesel engines for Contessa and Ambassador. Hindustan Motors had an annual turnover of one billion and manufactured Utility vehicles, Passenger cars, Earthmoving Equipment and other power products. Hindustan Motors introduced its new model in 1990 named Ambassador Nova and Ambassador 1800 ISZ in 1993 and werev exported to the markets of Britain and Japan. Hindustan Motors exported trucks to Egypt, Bangladesh, New zealand, Srilanka and earth moving components to Oman, Jordan, Iraq, Bangladesh and Libya. Hindustan Motors has spread its network in 4 regional offices and Nationwide territory offices.

Hindustan Motors joined with Mitsubishi in 1998 and located a plant in Thiruvallur manufacturing models like Mitsubishi Lancer, Mistubishi Cedia, Mistubishi Pajero, Mistubishi Montero and Mistubishi outlander. The current models produced by Hindustan Motors are Hindustan Landmaster, Hindustan Ambassador, Ambassador Mark I,II,III,IV, Station Wagon, Nova, Avigo, Hindustan Winner a small truck with 1.8L petrol/ CNG engine, Mascott-480 FC and RTV Ranger.
