Nissan is an automotive, financial services and Engineering company manufactured by Japanese automaker. Nissan was founded in 1933 and have its head quarter at Nishi-ku, Yokohama in Japan. Nissan is still a member of Nissan Group and has become independent after its restructuring under Carlos Ghosn. Initially Nissan marketed its vehicles under Datsun brand name which is one of the largest manufacturer of cars in the world. In 1999, Nissan contracted with two way alliance Renault S.A. of France, which owns 43.4% of Nissan while Nissan holds 15% of Renault shares, as of 2008. In Japan, Nissan is the third largest car manufacturer, with Honda being second by a small margin of 2,000 units and Toyota in a very dominant first.

The market share of Nissan, along with Honda and Toyota, in American auto sales represent the largest of the automotive firms. The Nissan VQ engines, of V6 configuration, have been featured among World's 10 Best Engines for 14 years. Nissan under Datsun was named as Kwaishinsha Motorcar Co. in 1918 and as DAT Motorcar Co. in 1925. The majority of its output were trucks, due to non-existent consumer market for passenger cars at the time. Nissan was named by it in 1930s used for Tokoyo stock market. This company was the famous Nissan Zaibatsu which included Tobata Casting and Hitachi. At this time Nissan controlled auto parts businesses, but Aikawa did not enter automobile manufacturing until 1933.

Tobata Casting was a Nissan company, this was the beginning of Nissan's automobile manufacturing in 1933. The shareholders of the Tobata casting were not enthusiastic about the prospects of the automobile in Japan, so Aikawa bought out all the Tobata Casting shareholders in 1934. Nissan built trucks, airplanes, and engines for the Japanese military. Nissan's main plant was moved to China after their land was captured by Japan. The plant made machinery for the Japanese war effort and from 1947 to 1948 the company was called Nissan Heavy Industries Corp. Nissan joined with Ford to market the Mercury Villager and the Nissan Quest.

The two models were manufactured with all the same parts and were identical aside from several cosmetic differences. In 1992, Nissan re launched its Terrano four-wheel drive, which was designed with mechanical identity to the Ford Maverick. Nissan also produced memorable sports cars, including the Datsun Fairlady 1500, 1600 and 2000 Roadsters, the Z-car at affordable price. Nissan will launch electric cars in Europe in 2010 with different business models in different countries. Nissan is one of the fastest growing automotive company of the world.
